What You Should Expect From Your Porcelain Tile Installer For Guaranteed Work -Part II

Another thing you want to do is to ask your ceramic tile installer just how he or she will prepare the substrate. If your installer is sketchy with this information, you will want to look for other help. It is vitally important to make sure that the substrate is going to be properly cleaned because all of the oil, moisture, paint and dirt that has built up over time can really get in the way of the tiles being adhered to the substrate.

The substrate will also need to be double checked for being level. If the substrate is not completely flat or level, an flatten on the substrate will be necessary. Once that is completed, a waterproofing layer will need to be added. Since you are most likely having the ceramic tile company services install tile in moist places, such as an outdoor patio, kitchen or bathroom, you are going to need that additional protection.

Believe it or not, there are some ceramic tile installer professionals that simply want to sweep the substrate and then start laying the tile. If you get the feeling that this is what your installer has in mind, it is time to start looking for help from another person or company.

Even though you are hiring someone else for the job, it is ultimately up to you to make sure that it is being done right. After all, at the end of the day, when the ceramic tile installer leaves, you are the one that is left with the tile and if it is not up to your standards, you are the one that pays the price.
